PHOTO BOOK

Tennis Season Coffee Table Book

I was hired to create a coffee table-style picture book for a local high school’s girls tennis team. The book was intended to give the players and coaches something tangible to look back on and remember their season, capturing not only the matches, but also the people, moments, and memories that made the season special.

Getting Started

I started by gathering and sorting through all of the content provided by the client, including season photos and news articles. I reviewed the images for quality and selected the strongest ones while making sure to include the photos the client specifically requested.

Considering Constraints

I worked with the client to determine the approximate page count and printing budget. These constraints helped guide the format and scope of the book before I began designing.

Blocking Out Content

I began by testing different layouts using simple blocked-out shapes instead of the final content. This allowed me to focus on the flow and pacing of the book before incorporating the selected photos and articles.

Stand Out Elements

I looked for opportunities to make the provided content feel more dynamic and reduce repetition throughout the book. Using the news articles as a starting point, I created playful photo treatments that highlighted small details to create unexpected moments throughout the book.
